Eden Botanical Courses: An introduction to botanical drawing and illustration

Join our horticulture team and the Eden Florilegium in a weekend of botanical painting at the Eden Project. Our experienced horticulturalists will guide you through the basics of botanical identification and understanding using the Eden site as an inspiration, and tutors Mally Francis, founder member of the Eden Florilegium, and Ros Franklin will guide beginners and improvers alike in creating beautiful botanical illustrations.

Day one will be led by our skilled horticulturalists and will focus on developing a basic botanical understanding of the plant kingdom. There will be an emphasis on walking around the Eden site to examine specific plants and understand their specific structures and functions. This knowledge will prove invaluable when you come to closely study and draw plant specimens.

Days two and three will be led by Mally Francis and Ros Franklin. Both experienced botanical painting tutors and experts in their field, Mally and Ros will help you develop your skills as a botanical artist and for this weekend will focus on drawing and illustration, with a theme of fruits and harvest.

The course is suitable for complete beginners and improvers, and costs £180pp for the weekend. This includes 3 days of expert tuition, a picnic lunch and refreshments on each day. The maximum group size will be 16 artists.

Accommodation packages are available separately, please enquire for further details.
