The edible garden

Coloured pencil workshop with Susan Christopher Coulson

July is usually a productive time in the garden (or greengrocers!) so it is a good time to be inspired by fruits, vegetables, herbs and edible flowers. You could choose different varieties of a single subject e.g. currants or tomatoes, or make a small collection of unrelated subjects. You could focus on the common, the curious or the unusual – perhaps heritage varieties. The choice is yours!

Please bring:

Materials & Equipment
Any coloured pencils – preferably artists’ quality – including any water soluble ones as they can also be used dry. There may be a limited variety for sale.
A graphite pencil B or 2B
A pencil sharpener is vital (if possible with two sizes of sharpener) and the blade/s must be sharp!
Eraser – putty and plastic if possible
Sketch pad and paper such as cartridge, hot pressed or Bristol board if you already have some – otherwise there will be a small variety for sale.
Drawing board with low tack tape or clips and a spare piece of heavyweight paper or lightweight card to put between your drawing board and the sheet of paper you will be working on
Please bring some suitable subject material to work from. There should be lots of fruits, vegetables, herbs, salads and edible flowers to choose from.
